Our Closets

Matthew 10:26b There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

Let me start by giving you a little background Nov. 2002 As I prepared for the family Thanksgiving gathering to take place at my house, I needed to get some house cleaning done. This was a year when I had many health issuses(not knowing if I was going to be alive in 10 years-I'm still here so that's another story), I was working full-time, being a teacher and a mom along with being a wife  to say my days and nights were full. Cleaning would always be there so it could be put off for another day. However, some would say I was a perfectionist and had to have everything in order(they're not far off but it's more if company is coming I race to get it spotless- it does drive me crazy when something isn't in its place-working on this but still please don't mess up my fridge...lol another story)as I worked on getting my house in order, I was on the phone with my grandmother and she asked how I was doing(this was a time when I couldn't talk more than 15 min without being winded or tired- at times I'd fall asleep mid-sentence and wake up like never being asleep), I told her a little better just trying to get the house in order before Thanksgiving and in her great wisdom she said "Now Focus on what will be seen and don't worry about the rest just close those rooms off"

So today, I ponder this great advice and realize that is how some of us live our lives we put on the best clothes, shoes, smiles, hair, nails etc looking sharp on the surface where everyone sees but behind those closed closet doors we've stuffed all the things we don't want anyone to see and we go around acting all happy and put together while on the inside it's a total mess. Some call this wearing a mask but for some there are things hiding deep in our closets that we're afraid if anyone knew they'd shame us or not be our friends or think we are hopeless. In these blogs we'll learn about people that messed up and was still used by God in a mighty way.

Sisters I'm here to tell you we all put on our pants/skirts one leg at a time and we all have done things that we can't take back. So leave the past in the past and move forward- with Christ all things are possible(yes, I'm preaching to myself too).
Some of us have been abused as children which caused or causes us to act out in harmful ways and then we bring that into our adulthood, some have had marriages that crumble and working on another marriage but some may seem to have it all together and didn't make the mistakes others made. I serve a God of second....third...fourth...umpteen chances, He never gives up on us, He never leaves us!!! If we make our bed in the pit He is there so where ever you are today KNOW HE Loves you and has a great plan for you(Jeremiah 29:11) Whatever you have done or who you were can all be surrendered today and you can be found as a New creation.
Hope you enjoyed reading this and will come back as I continue this journey....
